David A. Bego

The author’s expertise to write this book, as noted on CNN’s Lou Dobbs program in Spring 2009 (see interview at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru5D4u2Q4QY), stems from his actual firsthand experience while waging war with Andy Stern and the SEIU from late 2006 until the present day. Unlike other corporate executives who either compromise their core values and cave in to union demands, or those who simply talk about what it would be like to face financial disaster based on fighting back against one of the most powerful unions in existence today, the author has lived the experience while under attack from Stern and his union thugs. For more than 32 months and counting, he has had the courage to stand up for what he believes in, protecting his employees at all costs against loss of their freedom to vote in “secret ballot” elections with no threat of repercussion from those who may disagree with their choice as to whether unionization is proper. Despite damage to his reputation and EMS’s, the author has managed thus far to survive the SEIU onslaught and emerge with integrity intact.

Truly the voice and face of the opposition to the pending Employees Free Choice Act, the author has enhanced his credential through various media appearances, meetings with congressional leadership or their aides including Senators Richard Lugar (R-IN), Evan Bayh (D-IN), Harry Reid (D-NV), and Arlen Specter (D-PA), and representative Mike Pence (R-IN). In early 2009, the author sent the attached letter (click here) to every member of Congress outlining factors for consideration and opposition to the EFCA. Soon to be represented by the D.C. public relations firm, the author intends to broaden his media exposure so as to speak out against the legislation, one he believes is a direct threat to entrepreneurship, free enterprise, and capitalism.

As a recognized leader in his industry, the author is a member of the nearly 20,000 strong International Facility Management Association, the 16,500 member Building Owners and Managers Association, the nearly 6,000-member International Sanitary Supply Association, and the 2,000 company member Building Services Contractors Association International. Honored as a finalist for the Indiana Entrepreneur of the Year Award, he has guided EMS to a prestigious listing as one of the nation’s top Building Service Contractors. Married to Barbara, company secretary/treasurer, with daughter Kelly and son Mark who also work for EMS, and son Brian, a successful engineer, the author lives in Fishers, Indiana where he enjoys golf, skiing and playing basketball.

Through the immense publicity surrounding the fight to protect his employees and save his company during war with the most powerful union in America and its big labor boss Andy Stern, the author has been the beneficiary of wide media coverage. In March 2009, he appeared on CNN’s Lou Dobbs’ program to tell his side of the war with SEIU. Details about the struggle have been presented in London’s Guardian newspaper as well as the Irish Times providing an international scope to the author’s crusade to expose the untruths associated with the assault on EMS.

As one of the leading voices against passage of the EFCA, the author will continue to experience wide media coverage as the day nears when a crucial vote in the Senate will make or break the legislation. To aid his media exposure, the author will retain a nationally known public relations firm. They will be promoting not only the author but his book, the first one to tell the inside, true story of how Stern and the SEIU attempt to bully employees and employers into bowing to their demands. As a strong advocate for employee rights, the author is the perfect voice for leading the charge against passage of this legislation, one that will surely deprive workers of their freedom to vote in union elections without threat or intimidation.
